We were able to fix the issue by removing the font on his new Windows 10 workstation, and re-installing it using font files stolen from the Windows 7 classroom. We eventually narrowed the problem down to the Time New Roman font on his new workstation. But the same file would still show just fine on the machine in the classroom, which still runs Windows 7 (scheduled for update over the summer). We noticed the text remained garbled even if we copied it to MS Word, and it remained garbled even if we copied it to my machine (also Windows 10, but 1607). The problem is he sees badly garbled text for the math equations on some of his content in this program. This software generally runs fine on the new machine, and is in fact explicitly supported for Windows 10 by the vendor. It's useful for showing things like limits, summations, series, square roots, etc. He has a program he uses during classes in conjunction with a SMARTBoard for working with equations in front of class. I had a support ticket from a Math teacher whose Windows 7 workstation was recently replaced with a Windmachine.
